Just recently I was reading the front page of the yahoo finance and the headlines read “Dollar is getting stronger so the market is down”. I would like to say that I sat there for five minutes and decided if this was good news or bad news, but to this day I am not sure. If I only spend American dollars do I care what the dollar value is? I guess if we never imported anything.

I head over to the sports page and it talks about how Mike Vick scores a touchdown and Tiger Woods is quitting golf indefinitely. What did the headlines say on this same page six months ago and what will they read six months from now?

Mickey Rourke was telling his story on some talk show that has stuck in my mind for a long time. I don’t know much about him, but he appears to put his heart on his sleeve. He’s promoting his movie, the wrestler, and I’m thinking to myself - where has this guy been for so long? Immediately he starts in on a story how he was sleeping in his closet, didn’t want to face life, but his dog needed him. A couple of days later I see him giving a homeless guy a hundred dollar bill.

We watch people’s life go up, down, right, left and you find yourself in one of these areas. Hopefully the good places more than the bad ones, but what are the lessons here?

I try to ask God these lessons and sometimes I hear and sometimes I don’t, but this time I did. I said something like – God, life changes so fast, I’ll do anything, but if it was up to me I’d like to be passing out hundred dollar bills more than sleeping in my closet. The answer I got – Do not store up your treasures here on earth where the moth and rust destroy them. Store up your treasures in heaven.

I think the headlines show this earth has moths and rust.
